In 2004 the ruins of the old house were purchased on a sunny afternoon after lots of local food and wine (probably not the best preparation) as we fell in love with the views and the original architecture. Thought to be a coaching house, it would have been an important house in the area judging by the fine stone work, the original bodega and the magnificent hórreo (granite grain store) with its commanding position looking over the valley.

Our good friend and the owner of Casa Galicia, Jose Carrera, managed the entire project from start to finish quite brilliantly. Every detail was re-built using the original materials where-ever possible, by local craftsmen using traditional techniques, in an effort to preserve the unique character of the house, whislt creating a warm contemporary living space. This was a major project!
